Overview

If you’re searching for an authentic taste of Jamaica in Fort Walton Beach, Bamboo's Jamaican Restaurant is a culinary gem you won’t want to miss. Nestled conveniently on Eglin Parkway, this spot brings an inviting atmosphere paired with bold, comforting island flavors. From the moment you walk in, you sense a genuine passion for Jamaican cuisine that’s both homey and vibrant.

The heart of Bamboo's lies in its classic Jamaican specialties. The oxtail and curry goat are standout dishes—richly stewed, tender, and infused with fragrant spices that offer an unmistakable depth of flavor. The jerk chicken here strikes a perfect balance of smoky heat and succulent juiciness, embodying the essence of island barbecue. Sampling the sampler platter is a smart way to explore the diverse offerings, featuring tender goat, flavorful jerk wings, and more, showcasing the range from fiery to mild, adaptable for families and adventurous eaters alike.

Beyond mains, the sides elevate the experience. Fried plantains serve as a sweet, caramelized complement, while the rice and peas carry the signature coconut undertone that anchors many Jamaican dishes. The Johnny cake is a must-try—crispy yet soft and just sweet enough to pair beautifully with hearty mains. Bamboo’s menu also caters thoughtfully to different diets, with vegan bowls and fresh seasonal veggies ensuring everyone finds something satisfying.

The space itself fosters a warm, casual vibe. Guests often mention the friendliness of the team and the relaxed atmosphere that encourages lingering—whether you’re sharing a meal or learning a new board game, as one reviewer fondly noted. It’s a place that welcomes families, locals, and visitors wanting a genuine cultural dining experience without pretense.

While some have noted room to improve in service speed and communication, the commitment to authenticity and quality shines through. The owner’s connection to the community, including a sister location in Panama City, adds an extra layer of trust and pride. This is a destination for those who appreciate Jamaican fare crafted with care and steeped in tradition.

Ultimately, Bamboo's Jamaican Restaurant offers more than a meal; it serves a slice of Jamaican heritage in every dish. Whether you crave the punch of jerk spices, the comfort of slow-cooked goat, or a family-friendly feast with plenty of options, Bamboo’s hits the mark with flavor and heart in Fort Walton Beach.

Very good food. The Johnny cake was excellent, so was the curried goat. The waiter was very helpful in trying to find a mild option for our daughter and had her taste several options. All reasonably priced.

Food was AMAZING. We got the jerk chicken, the goat and the oxtail. The vibes were great. My only fit was the customer service. Server should really take a course in speaking a little louder and writing down the orders and having more of a sense of urgency.

I loved this place. The staff was so nice and answered my many questions. I had the jerk chicken, mac and cheese, cabbage, and coconut bread. It was a huge serving and the food was absolutely fabulous. The jerk chicken was so tender. The mac and cheese had just enough kick. The cabbage was perfectly cooked with just a little crunch left in. The flavors were fantastic. My friend had curry chicken. She said all of her food was amazing as well. We learned to play a new board game while waiting and that was so much fun. What a great atmosphere.

Love this place! It was clean. I found out that they had to move from the old building because the owner of the old building was demoing the building. The service was really nice. The owner came and talked with us. When she found out that I'm from Panama City, she told me that she has a restaurant there, too. It's called Bamboo 2. She is also the cook there, too. The food is fantastic ! I had the Curry goat and the flavors blinded in so nicely. My sister had the oxtail, and we both were practically licking the bowl. We walked out satisfied and happy . We got halfway home and forgot to order some to go. My next adventure. . . Panama City for a second round.
